Description

2-ply, with a soft twist. This yarn was spun in Wyoming from fine Merino wool sourced in Missouri.  Perfect for shawls and baby garments, and when knit at larger gauges will produce a soft fabric with a beautiful drape and bloom. And, like all our SoSoft™ yarns, it’s great for felting too!

Red Lacquer is made from Lac which is a red dye derived from the scale insect Laccifer lacca that invade host trees. The resin that is secreted is used to make shellac, but the color itself comes from the insects and is extracted from the resin. It was used in ancient India not just as a textile dye, but also for cosmetics and as a wood finish.
